Newly published in January 2012, Mr. Monk on Patrol is the 13th book in the Monk series and the newest hardcover release, written by Lee Goldberg.Mr. Monk on Patrol book cover

Monk is a policeman again! Here’s the new Monk book that we’ve been waiting for!

With Monk off the air, this is the only place to get a good fix of Adrian Monk and the rest of the SFPD crew. And more Randy Disher, a character I have always loved, which means this is a book not to be missed.

Although at the time of writing this, the paperback hasn’t been released, only the hardcover and ebooks, Disher is worth buying early.

I had just rewatched Mr. Monk Visits a Farm, a very Randy-centric episode when I started writing this, so I guess you could say I’m feeling nostalgic for more Disher, knowing that he is no longer with the SFPD since he took a job as the Chief of Police of a town in New Jersey.

There’s a paperback (for preorder), hardcover, and Kindle edition at Amazon. There’s also an ebook edition that will work with most ebook readers available elsewhere too.

Goldberg really has a knack for highlighting specific characters with each book and more Randy is excellent news. Also, Sharona is Randy’s girlfriend these days, so this particular book also features Sharona, Monk’s first assistant (which I add for the benefit of non-tv viewers of Monk, because she’s not in the books much and if that’s the only way you know Monk, then you might not remember Sharona if you haven’t read the right books).

Mr. Monk on Patrol Summary Description

Summit, New Jersey Chief of Police Randy Disher, formerly of the SFPD, ends up acting as Mayor after a string of arrests in the local government.  With a town to run and a series of robberies to investigate, he calls on Adrian Monk to serve as a temporary policeman.

The next book isn’t due out for nearly 6 months, titled, I believe, “Mr. Monk is a Mess”, so don’t miss your fix of Monk and his mystery solving genius!
