Fans of the books who have never watched Monk will especially like this book, but the TV viewers will have a hard time with it because of continuity issues.

This book was written while the series was still on-going. The television series ended in 2009.

The episode “Mr. Monk and Sharona” from season 8 brought Sharona back into Monk’s life and it’s made clear that this is the first time they have seen each other since Sharona left. However, if you can set that aside and just enjoy the story, you’re going to love this mystery.

This book is narrated by Natalie, so the perspective of a Natalie worried about being usurped by Sharona gives the story some extra edge. While we all know how that ends, this story gives Sharona fans a chance to enjoy a visit with a much missed character from the Monk series.

There’s a paperback, hardcover, and Kindle edition at Amazon. There’s also an ebook edition that will work with most ebook readers and a highly rated audio book available elsewhere too.

This might be easier if you image it as a “what if” story, but however you do it, don’t skip this book just because it isn’t quite in step with the series!
