With Mr. Monk in Outer Space, the Monk mysteries continue to entertain with lighthearted, true to character stories based on the Monk television series.

This book brings back Monk’s brother, Ambrose, who first appeared in the MONK episode “Mr. Monk and the Three Pies” in a bit of a spoof on Star Trek. If you enjoy parodies, then you’re probably going to enjoy this one for more than the mystery!

Monk’s assistant Natalie Teeger continues to narrate the Monk novels.

Knowing Tony Shalhoub has already been part of one of my most favorite ST parodies of all time, Galaxy Quest, I can’t help but think this is a great idea! I haven’t read this one yet, but after this description, I don’t think I can pass it up.

Mr. Monk in Outer Space Summary Description

The creator of the 1970s TV series “Beyond Earth” is murdered at a science fiction convention and security cameras caught it all. But the murderer was wearing an alien costume, so Monk is called in to investigate. Fan reaction to a re-imagining of the original show has police believing a fan is the murderer.

Monk discovers that the group of convention goers is full of people who are just as obsessive compulsive as he is. In the course of his investigation, he needs someone to help him navigate this strange new world—an expert. His brother Ambrose.
